Death's Head Hawkmoths

Recently I reared five Death's Heads from egg to adult, the caterpillars were fed on privet and I have now framed two of the adult moths, (male above, female below)



Some photos showing the spreading and drying process prior to framing the specimens, the wings, body, legs and antennae are in position with pins. 



Fimo Sloth Skull


Not 100% accurate, I know, but it's a first attempt for me at making a skull replica with Fimo polymer clay. Based on a young Sloth skull, with separate lower jaw, painted with acrylic.

The Buff tailed Bumblebee, Bombus terrestris. 80 x 60cm graphite and charcoal on blotting paper. Our bees are in decline and without them our world would become an unrecognisable place. Prints available

The Children of Atropos

Atropa belladonna (Deadly Nightshade) and Acherontia atropos (Death's Head Hawk Moth) - both named after Atropos, the Greek Goddess of fate. Fibre-tip pen on cartridge paper, A3. Prints will be available soon.
Inspired by my recent rearing of Death's Head Moths.
